As "La La Land," a movie every professional should see, swept the 2017 Golden Globes, some of Hollywood's biggest names shared the less-than-glamorous careers they had before making it big.
In a two-minute montage that serves as a poignant reminder that the path to success is not clearly marked, 17 stars share their first jobs in pet shops and perfumeries, on golf courses and loading docks.
1. Taraji P. Henson
Henson was a singing, dancing waitress on "The Spirit of Washington," a dinner cruise.
2. Amy Adams
Adams was a red licorice salesperson at a rodeo in Utah.
3. Benedict Cumberbatch
Cumberbatch worked in a perfumery in London.
4. Ben Affleck
Affleck tore tickets at a movie theater.
5. Jeremy Renner
Renner was a paperboy.
6. Kevin Hart
Hart was a lifeguard.
7. Felicity Jones
Jones was "the letter V in a promotional video for a British TV channel."
8. Tyler Perry
Perry's first job was "cleaning up dog poop at a pet shop."
9. Martin Short

10. Sarah Paulson

14. Casey Affleck

15. Bryan Cranston

16. Chris Pratt
Pratt injects some humor into the montage, saying he has always been an actor. He jokingly decides to make something up, saying, "I was a golf boy. Is that even a job?"
17. Robert De Niro
The video ends with what sounds like a joke from De Niro. After Pratt's quip, De Niro concludes, "I was a golf boy."
Correction: Jeremy Renner worked as a paperboy. An earlier version misidentified the actor who worked the position.
