Cyclical stocks lifted the Dow Jones Industrial Average off its low on Thursday to close the session near the flatline, while better-than-expected labor market data helped support sentiment.

The blue-chip Dow closed down just 23.34 points, or less than 0.1%, at 34,577.04 after shedding 265 points at its session low. The S&P 500 declined 0.4% to 4,192.85 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 1% to 13,614.51.
