Ben & Jerry's new ice cream is politically delicious

The ice cream makers at Ben & Jerry's want you to eat democracy with a spoon.

The company's latest flavor, dubbed "Empower Mint," is a peppermint ice cream with fudge brownies and fudge swirls. The new scoop, currently only available in a limited number of Ben & Jerry's stores, is a reflection of the company's stance on voting access laws.

Empower Mint comes just one month after founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield were arrested while protesting corporate money in politics and voting rights while in Washington, DC.

Currently, the company's site directs users interested in the new flavor to sign an online petition to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act.

Cohen and Greenfield are no strangers to making political statements with their ice cream. Ben & Jerry's has created and renamed flavors in the past to reflect the company's political stances.

Last year, the company temporarily changed the name of it's chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream to "I dough, I dough," following the Supreme Court's national legalization of same-sex marriage.
