  • April 29- Network equipment maker Riverbed Technology Inc reported an 8 percent rise in quarterly revenue as U.S. telecom carriers spent more to expand and strengthen their networks. Riverbed reported net income of $3.3 million, or 2 cents per share, in the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $8.1 million, or 5 cents per share, a year earlier.

    BOSTON, April 29- Sotheby's and its largest investor, Daniel Loeb, will open their arguments in court on Tuesday on whether the auction house should be allowed to restrict the billionaire's ownership stake, in a case that could reshape the world of shareholder activism.

  • Shares of the company, whose customers include AT&T Inc and Verizon Communications Inc, rose about 3 percent in extended trading. AT&T has estimated capital expenditure of about $21 billion for this year, while Verizon has said it expected to spend about $17 billion.

  • April 15- Hedge fund Elliott Management reaffirmed its $3.36 billion offer for network gear maker Riverbed Technology Inc after being rebuffed twice, saying it remained "extremely interested" in acquiring the company. The stock had touched a high of $22.76 in February after Elliot raised its initial bid by $2 to $21 per share.

  • Feb 28- Network gear maker Riverbed Technology Inc rejected Elliott Management's raised bid of $3.36 billion, saying the hedge fund's offer undervalued the company. Elliott on Tuesday increased its offer by $2 to $21 per share and said it could raise the bid if allowed access to Riverbed's books for due diligence. Goldman, Sachs& Co is advising Riverbed.

    Elliott Management Corp. is getting more aggressive in its bid for Riverbed Technology with a new offer of $21 a share.

  • Feb 25- Hedge fund Elliott Management increased its offer for network gear maker Riverbed Technology Inc to $3.36 billion from $3.08 billion and said it was aware of other potential buyers that Riverbed had so far ignored. The new offer of $21 per share represents a 5.8 percent premium to the stock's closing price of $19.85 on Monday.
