In 2015, among full-time workers, women were paid about 20% less than men: median weekly earnings were $726 per week for women, compared to $895 per week for men, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

While women still lag behind when it comes to wages, there are a handful of jobs where female workers are raking in over $1,300 a week.

Using data from the BLS, GOBankingRates rounded up the 17 highest-paying jobs for women.

Here, we've highlighted the top 11.

11. Computer programmers

Median Weekly Earnings: $1,302

BLS job description: Computer programmers write and test code that allows computer applications and software programs to function properly.

10. Operations research analysts

Median Weekly Earnings: $1,325

BLS job description: Operations research analysts use advanced mathematical and analytical methods to help organizations investigate complex issues, identify and solve problems, and make better decisions.

9. Management analysts

Median Weekly Earnings: $1,348

BLS job description: Management analysts, often called management consultants, propose ways to improve an organization's efficiency. They advise managers on how to make organizations more profitable through reduced costs and increased revenues.

8. Software developers

Median Weekly Earnings: $1,415

BLS job description: Software developers are the creative minds behind computer programs. Some develop the applications that allow people to do specific tasks on a computer or another device. Others develop the underlying systems that run the devices or that control networks.

7. Engineers

Median Weekly Earnings: $1,448

BLS job description: Engineers' duties can range from research and development to design, testing, and involvement in manufacturing and maintenance processes.

These professionals work in multiple areas, including aviation, electrical, computer hardware, and the petroleum industry.

6. Nurse practitioners

Median Weekly Earnings: $1,522
