Whether you land a job after college can depend on a lot of factors — and where you look is definitely one of them.
A new study by ZipRecruiter found that the western U.S. is the place to find a job after college, especially if you want to break into the tech industry.
The study, which looked at the 2017 labor market, surveyed 7 million jobs in the U.S. to find the ratio of open entry-level college jobs to the number of applicants and the overall availability of entry-level college jobs in each city.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington area topped the list with the most available jobs that are the easiest to obtain. Technology is the city's top industry, with the top job being software engineer.
Out of the top 20 cities with the best job markets, eight of the cities on the list were located in the western U.S. — making it the No. 1 region to score a job. The South had seven cities on the list, the Midwest had three, and the Northeast came in last with two.
The study also found the top industry and job in each city. The tech industry, not surprisingly, topped the list, followed by business, then finance and insurance and then healthcare, respectively.
