Poll: When will there be a stock market correction?

A recent CNBC poll showed global executives are split on whether there will be a stock market correction in the near term, even as U.S. markets chalk up new record highs.

37 percent of respondents believe a correction is "somewhat likely" before year-end, while the same amount believes it's "somewhat unlikely".

Last week marked the end of the index's best August in 14 years after it closed above 2,000 points for the first time. The U.S. benchmark is up 9.5 percent so far this year, after surging 30 percent in 2013.

Meanwhile, Japan's Nikkei is down 4.5 percent year to date after rallying 56 percent last year and the Euro Stoxx 600 Index is up 4 percent after 2013's 17 percent gain.
