Disruptor #11: Houzz disrupts home renovation

The renovation and design company Houzz, ranked 11 on Disruptor's 50 list, is bringing change by empowering homeowners through video content, perspectives from the Houzz community, tips and data, said the company's CEO and co-founder, Adi Tatarko.

"The beauty of Houzz is that people come and they have everything under one roof," said Tatarko in CNBC's "Squawk Alley."

Recently, Houzz launched a video series entitled "My Houzz." The first episode features the actor Ashton Kutcher renovating his mother's basement for Mother's Day.

Kutcher is also the executive producer of the show and an investor in the company, according to a company's press release issued on May 5.

"It brings everything to life—all the pieces, all the technology that we created," said Tatarko.

"Houzz was always listening to its community in terms of how do we empower people, and provide them with the right technology and the right content so they will be able to take care of their own homes," said Tatarko.

Tatarko said that the video is a complement to what is already available on the website and there will be more videos to come in the future.

"The video and the new piece of content that we added to Houzz is very powerful, as we see in the last few months," said Tatarko.
