GM Gambles On Electricity -- And Tiger Woods

Greg Levine

GM wants to put a Tiger in your tank.

CNBC’s Phil LeBeau hit the L.A. Auto Show, where he found General Motors poised to unveil a two-pronged survival strategy: develop the legendary electric car – and exploit golf superstar Tiger Woods as its pitchman.

Appearing on “Squawk Box “, LeBeau tore the wraps off of GM’s Buick Enclave -- another piece of GM Chief Executive Richard “Rick” Wagoner’s plan: a so-called crossover utility vehicle with a slimmer profile than a standard SUV.

And he spoke to Woods, who, presumably, will lend his signature boyish panache to the troubled Big 3 automaker.

The demigod of the greens enthused that “It’s really neat to be part of the process” of remaking GM’s image. Woods praised the Enclave as a “younger, hipper, stylish car.”

One wonders if Ford Motor is eyeing Michelle Wie.
