Procrastination nation." That's how Senior Economics Reporter Steve Liesman described the state of the holiday shopping, based on the latest CNBC Holiday Central survey.

Details of the second edition of the survey were unveiled on the program today. The CNBC survey shows some 55% of those polled have yet to do the bulk of their holiday shopping. Another 36% have done little or none.

Plans for overall spending have dropped to an average $735 from $764 in late November, when the first Holiday Central Survey was taken.

There's plenty more to learn from the survey and all the results are right here on cnbc.com.
The survey is conducted by Hart-McInturff.
