Mike Ditka Predicts "Da Super Bowl"

Mike Ditka

Hillary who? Let’s be honest - this weekend's news was all about football. The Indianapolis Colts pulled off a stunning win against the New England Patriots to clinch the AFC title and the Chicago Bears beat the New Orleans Saints 39-14 to win the NFC title. The Bears will go to their first Super Bowl since 1986 and the man who coached that team to a Super Bowl victory – Mike Ditka – was on “Power Lunch” with Sue Herera to talk about all things football.

Ditka first weighed in on this morning’s breaking news that coach Bill Parcells was leaving the Dallas Cowboys after four seasons. Ditka says the news surprised him – he knows Parcells loves to coach, that it’s “in his blood,” and he thinks he is still in the prime of his career. Parcells’ retirement will be a big loss for not just the Cowboys, but the entire league, Ditka says.

On to the big game – Ditka believes Rex Grossman can lead the Bears to a Super Bowl victory despite criticisms that he is inconsistent. As long as they don’t turn the ball over, the Bears can compete with any team out there, Ditka says. And on the other side – he says Peyton Manning has probably the most responsibility of any individual in the history of the league and the game could be such a tight competition that it may come down to whichever team has the ball last.

And while the Hall of Famer will be at the Super Bowl in two weeks, he won’t just be there to support his old team. Ditka is "shilling" for a number of companies, including Scott Tissue (a division of Kimberly-Clark ). And get this. Ditka says it's estimated that over 90 million toilets in the U.S. are flushed during halftime of the Super Bowl (great ice breaker for your next super bowl party). That’s the equivalent of the amount of water that goes over Niagara Falls in seven minutes (making the case for low consumption toilets).

As for Ditka’s Super Bowl XLI prediction?

Da Bears--all the way, baby!
