Germany's Most Famous TV Journalist to Host New Program on CNBC

Sabine Christiansen to interview top international political and global business leaders

Singapore, 20 January 2006 - CNBC today announced that Sabine Christiansen, Germany's most watched and most important political television presenter, has joined CNBC in Europe to produce and host a series of 12 new programs that will be broadcast around the world on CNBC.

The new 60 minute program, called "Global Players with Sabine Christiansen," will consist of hard-hitting dialogue with top international political and business leaders. Each of these special programs will be produced on location at key international events from around the world.

The program will add a new dimension to CNBC’s coverage, increasing the depth of business analysis and understanding of the impact of geopolitical issues on the global economy.

Sabine Christiansen hosts the most-watched and most important political talk show on German television. The Sabine Christiansen show is broadcast on ARD (Das Erste) and has the largest market share in Germany. Each week up to seven million viewers tune into watch her discuss the topic of the week with famous national and international guests.

Along with prominent German political and celebrity guests, Sabine Christiansen has interviewed the world’s most notable politicians and business leaders including Tony Blair, Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Bill Gates, Kofi Annan, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Douglas Hurd, Condoleezza Rice and Henry Kissinger.

"Global Players with Sabine Christiansen" will air worldwide on CNBC in Asia Pacific, Europe and the United States. The premiere air date for the new program will be announced shortly.

One of the most highly recognized journalists in Germany, the 48 year old Christiansen is equally at home discussing international politics or world business in English, German, French or Spanish.

Prior to creating her own discussion show, Sabine Christiansen anchored the nightly news program "ARD-TAGESTHEMEN" for ten years, and was also author of a series of international documentaries.

For her journalistic work she has received all of Germany’s highest awards, from the Grimme Preis and the Bambi to the Golden Kamera.

She is personally engaged in social issues through her own foundation for childrens' rights, as the only national Ambassador for UNICEF/Germany, and through her work on a number foundation boards and advisory councils.

Her commitment to social service has been recognized by the German government, which in 2002 bestowed upon her its Medal of Honour, and by a series of other awards including the "Courage Prize" and the "Religions' Prize."

She received the World Media Award in 2005 from the hand of Mikhail Gorbachev.
