Dutch retail sales increased by 1.9% compared with the same period a year earlier, the Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS) said Thursday.
The increase is largely due to price increases, as the sales volume was comparable to that of May of last year, the CBS said.
Sales in the non-food sector rose by 0.5% compared to a year ago; prices in that sector were 2% higher. Growth was strongest in the consumer electronics segment, rising 6.5% on last year.
Sales in the food retail sector rose by 4%, largely due to higher sales in the supermarket segment, while prices increased by 1%.
