Jeff Macke says the consumer is asleep but is showing a pulse. Going forward he likes McDonald’s (MCD) and Nike (NKE).

Karen Finerman recommends owning Wal-Mart (WMT).

ACKMAN AIMS AT TARGET:

The headline:  Activist Investor Bill Ackman Reportedly Buys Significant Stake In Target (TGT); WSJ: Ackman May Push Target To Unload Credit-Card Division

Karen Finerman thinks Ackman is going to focus on capital allocation such as their credit card business and real estate. She also believes he has something else up his sleeve and consequently she’s long Target stock and long the July 70’s.

1) Buffett's Berkshire (BRK) Buying Into Hovnanian (HOV)

Karen Finerman says she’s skeptical of this rumor. However she wouldn’t be surprised if USG Corp comes into play.

2) Lazard (LAZ) Buyout

Guy Adami says options volume suggests to him that LAZ could be a takeover candidate. Then, Guy speculates LAZ could be bought by either Merrill Lynch (MER) or Goldman Sachs (GS).

3) Intersil (ISIL) and Sandisk (SNDK) Will Beat the Street Next Week

Pete Najarian says the options volume in Intersil and SanDisk suggest to him that investors are expecting good news.
