The top Democrat and Republican in the Senate promised swift action to pass a bipartisan financial rescue plan.

A day after the House narrowly rejected a $700 billion proposal, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called for an end to partisan bickering.

"We will get the job done. We'll get it done this week," McConnell said.

But not everyone thinks Congress should sponsor a bailout of any kind. Harold B. writes, "I for one am glad they didn't approve a ballout.  Quit lending money to people who can't afford it."

Janet N. feels more strongly. She writes, "Congress represents the PEOPLE not fricking rich Wall Street!!!!!! Thank God they still listen to us when were mad as hell. We are not buying the scare stories BTW. Tell Wall Street to start jumping, we really don't give a rip.

Many more viewers feel the markets should be left to correct themselves, but others feel quite the opposite. They say without a bailout plan to allow the U.S. Treasury to buy toxic mortgage-related assets from banks, credit markets around the world could remain frozen, which could lead to a recession.

Ken G. from Missouri writes, "I am a Republican AND a fiscal conservative but they blew it."
