Vijay & The Stanford Curse

Allen Stanford, the Texas billionaire accused of running an $8 billion fraud, tried to turn himself in to the authorities yesterday. But golfer Vijay Singh is still wearing the company's logo on his hat and shirt.

Despite the fact that Stanford has defaulted on endorsement payments to Singh, the 46-year-old golfer from Fiji has stood by his sponsor. Funny thing is, if Stanford were paying Singh, he wouldn’t be getting his money’s worth.

Throughout his career on the PGA Tour, Singh has made the cut 89.3 percent of the time. Since donning the Stanford logo this year, Singh has made the cut only 55.5 percent of the time (5 for 9), including the cut he’ll miss this weekend at the Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte.

The more amazing statistic? In the nine events Singh has played in this year, he hasn’t finished in the top 10. The last time he went nine events without a top 10 finish was 11 years ago.
