Amazing Avatar

You know a good movie can lift your spirits. But can it lift the fortunes of its parent company NewsCorp ?

Apparently the new film Avatar can -- it's that good.

Some press reports describe the special effects as "jaw dropping". Others say, "the animation itself is mind-boggling to the point of flawlessness."

In fact one reviewer went so far as to say it’s a "movie that just might change all movies."

And it’s not just Hollywood movie critics that finds the film dazzling. Wall Street is being blown away too.

Pali Capital analyst Rich Greenfield was so impressed he said, “the honest truth is that nobody in the world has ever seen a movie like Avatar.”

It seems not only will this film change the fortunes of its stars, it may also change the fortune of its studio – 20th Century Fox – and its parent News Corp.

On Thursday Pali upgraded the stock to 'neutral' from 'sell', and said the risk/reward of shorting the media giant post the screening of Avatar is "not appealing."

"This is a game changer for 3-D," Greenfield tells the Fast Money desk. "This is the first live action 3-D film. No one has seen anything like it."

And he thinks other media companies could benefit too.

"Everyone will want to see it in IMAX ," he says enthusiastically. "It could be a game changer for them, too."

What else does Greenfield have to say about this film and how it may impact the fortunes of NewsCorp. Watch the video now and find out!
