New York University Professor and economist Nouriel Roubini's preferred nickname is close to the one CNBC.com readers chose for him.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Roubini said he didn't much care for the nickname "Dr. Doom" anymore.
While he did predict the recent financial upheaval, he didn't want to be characterized as a permabear.
CNBC.com organized a poll among readers to decide on a new nickname, and "Roubini the Realist" got the most votes.
"Sir Fretalot" was a close second among readers' preferences, followed by Dr. Know, Dr. Real and Dr. Toldya.
"Well I've always said that I'm Dr. Realist rather than Dr. Doom; it's important to be right, not pessimist or optimist and that's how it is," Roubini told CNBC on the sidelines of a business conference in Moscow.
