Bonds Are 'Not a Good Place' to Invest: Leon Cooperman

Markets opened lower on Tuesday ahead of minutes from the Fed's last policy meeting. Leon Cooperman, chairman and chief executive of Omega Advisors, shared his insights.

“Interest rates are going up,” Cooperman told CNBC. “The question is when.”

He said the markets are in a “sweet spot” through the course of the year.

“We are beginning a new business cycle,” he explained. “The outlook is reasonably good—there are structural issues long-term—but we’re in a sweet spot and there’s more to go on the upside.”

Meanwhile, Cooperman said he is concerned about individuals buying bond funds and not putting much money in the equity market.

“That would make me worry about a cyclical peak in bonds, because bonds are not a good place to be for the individual,” he warned.
