President Barack Obama on Thursday will nominate San Francisco Fed President Janet Yellen, Massachusetts Institute of Technology economist Peter Diamond, and Maryland state banking regulator Sarah Bloom Raskin for seats on the central bank's board, CNBC confirmed Wednesday.

Experts don't expect the nominations to cause a significant shift in the Fed's policy, but said they may reinforce the central bank's movements toward regulating risk in the banking sector.

If the nominations are confirmed, Obama will have appointed four of the board's seven members since he became president.
