AOL names Gounares technology chief

AOL Inc. said Monday it named Alexander Gounares chief technology officer and a member of the company's global executive operating committee, replacing Ted Cahall.

Gounares, 37, joins AOL from Microsoft where he was a corporate vice president and chief technology officer for Microsoft's online services division.

Shares of AOL rose 66 cents, or 3 percent, to $22.42 in morning trading. The stock has traded between $20.27 and $29.49 over the last 52 weeks.
