Homes of TV Talk-Show Hosts
Television talk-show hosts do more than read monologues and toss softball questions at celebrities. The top players in this field also collect enormous paychecks. The website Celebritynetworth.com puts the net worth of Conan O’Brien at $75 million, and both Ellen DeGeneres and Glenn Beck earn $85 million each, for example. The net worth of Jay Leno and Larry King are both pegged at $150 million each, according to the same source.
Clearly, these celebrated TV personalities can afford a fabulous home ... or two or three. The following homes, with information and photos supplied by Trulia.com, have price tags ranging from a relatively modest $2.2 million up to $60 million, spanning styles from a Vermont farmhouse and horse property to a glamorous Malibu beach home. Click ahead to see the range of residences belonging to famous talk-show hosts.

Ellen DeGeneres
Price: $49 million for main house or $60 million for entire compound (unconfirmed)
Location: Beverly Hills, California
Square Footage: approx. 15,000
The three-acre compound of Ellen DeGeneres entered the real estate market earlier this year for significantly more than she paid for the main house, which was $29 million in 2007. That’s because in the time since she bought the first home DeGeneres expanded the square footage and privacy by purchasing many neighboring properties. She also married her companion, actress Portia De Rossi, on these grounds in 2008.
Regis Philbin
Price: $3.8 million
Location: Greenwich, Connecticut
Beds / Baths: 4 / 5 full, 3 partial
Square Footage: 5,919
Television mainstay Regis Philbin re-listed his French colonial this summer at a drastic reduction from 2008’s $5.9 million asking price. The property has the usual amenities, including a pool, tennis court, and gazebo, plus two family rooms and a library with wet bar.
Conan O’Brien
Price: $10.75 million
Location: Brentwood, California
Beds / Baths: 6 / 8 full 1 half
Square Footage: 3,395
Conan O’Brien purchased this 1941 New England-style home in anticipation of taking over "The Tonight Show" in 2008. It has a 60-foot veranda, canyon views, an outdoor kitchen, a spa, a wine cellar, a pool with a large sun deck (where O’Brien will surely apply much sun block), and a wood-paneled library that, like Philbin’s house, has a bar.
Whoopi Goldberg
Price: $2.175 million
Location: Marlboro, Vermont
Beds / Baths: 6 / 4 full, 2 partial
Square Footage: 6,100
The 745-acre former Robinson-Winchester farm is the soon-to-be-former farm of actress and TV personality Whoopi Goldberg. The renovated colonial main house dates to 1790, and the property has numerous barns and outbuildings, including a two-bedroom bunkhouse. The sprawling property may be even more appealing to horse enthusiasts, with 15 miles of trails and more than 67 acres of pasture.
Glenn Beck’s Former Home
Price: $3.65 million
Location: New Canaan, Connecticut
Beds / Baths: 6 / 5 full 3 half
Square Footage: 11,320
Glenn Beck and his wife Tania bought this 16-room mansion, “Waterford Manor,” in 2005 for $4.25 million, and lived there until mid-2011. It has a grand double-story entrance hall, reservoir views, a heated pool, huge billiard and exercise rooms, and a carriage guesthouse with a fireplace.
Glenn Beck’s Current Rental
Price: approx. $3.9 million to buy, or $20,000 per month rent
Location: Westlake, Texas
Beds / Baths: 7 / 7.5
Square Footage: 7,904
After parting ways with Fox News, Glenn Beck also departed the East Coast for a rental house in Texas owned by former pro baseball player Jorge Piedra and Swarovski heiress Vanessa Piedra. The house features four pink Swarovski crystal-encrusted Tord Boontje-designed Blossom chandeliers, which as The Real Estalker blog notes, can run $30,000-plus each.
Tony Danza
Price: $9.1 million
Location: Malibu, California
Beds / Baths: 3 / 3
Square Footage: unavailable
It’s true Tony Danza is best known for acting in two long-running TV series, but from 2004 to 2006 he took a turn as talk-show host with "The Tony Danza Show." Danza purchased this Malibu beachfront property with 50 feet of beach and ocean views for $1.15 million in 1987, when he starred in “Who’s the Boss.” The house is situated below street level, and the master bedroom has a private deck and fireplace, plus a large main deck and two detached guest residences.
Larry King
Price: $11.75 million
Location: Beverly Hills, California
Beds / Baths: 6 / 9
Square Footage: 9,596
In 2007, Larry King sold his longtime Los Angeles home (it was listed for $7.25 million), and he and his wife Shawn Southwick moved into this larger, Tuscan-style mansion. The couple wanted more space, because their previous home had a mere 6,995-square-feet of living space. It has a grand entrance with double staircase, and a trophy room filled with mementos and awards King earned over his long career.
