Disney and This Stock OK to Buy & Hold, Says Pro

Our pros always say this is a great market for traders. Gains and losses over a period of only days can provide fantastic opportunities if you’re nimble.

Just look at the chart of Netflix.

The sharp move lower a few weeks ago certainly made someone with a short position happy.

And that’s hardly the only stock making big swings. Green Mountain, Baidu and Salesforce.com certainly come to mind.

But what if you’re not a nimble trader? What is you’re like the millions of Americans who tend to buy and hold stock for the long-term? What then?

CNBC Contributor Ron Insana says if you have a 3-5 year time horizon, the following stocks belong in your portfolio.

1. Disney

”I consider this stock a core entertainment holding for the long-term,” Insana tells us. “”They continue to deliver and the management is stable. As a core holding I think it’s a great company. They execute quite well and although there is overseas economic risk the company seems to be handling it well.”

2. Valero

”With oil prices going up and with OPEC and others saying demand for crude oil is stronger than expected, refiners may be in an interesting position. And Valero is a company that seems relatively inexpensive. It’s not trading at a very strong multiple. Of the refiners, I think Valero is best in class,” says Insana.
