If you haven't done your taxes yet, you're not alone!
Nearly one-third of Americans wait until the last two weeks to do their taxes, according to Intuit, make of the tax software Turbo Tax.
And, let's be honest, some of us are better at procrastinating than others.
Intuit is out with its annual list of the 10 most procrastinatinest cities. So, if you find out your city is on the list, you can just say — Hey, it's not me. It's something in the water!
Here are your top 10:
10. Portland. People in the "City of Roses," so named for its climate conducive to growing roses, are stopping to smell the roses a LOT more this year, moving up the list from No. 13 last year.
9. San Diego. When Ron Burgundytold San Diego to "stay classy," I don't think he meant stop what you're doing and just be classy. San Diego moves one notch down the procrastination list from No. 8 last year.
8. Denver. Is it the altitude? Or just all the nice weather we've been having? Who knows, but the Mile High City made the top 10 for the first time this year.
7. Minneapolis. Maybe they got lost in the Mall of America — at 4.2 million square feet, it's totally possible — but Minneapolitans jumped into the top 10 for the first time. Maybe they should put an H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt in there?
6. Austin. This Texas city carried the mantle of the most rootinest tootinest tax procrastinatinest city for six straight years, but has finally moved down the list by a few notches.
5. Seattle. You would think with all that rain there wouldn't be anything else to do but things like taxes but apparently rain is still conducive to procrastinating. Seattle moves up the list from No. 7 last year.
4. Los Angeles. Represent, California! Three California cities make the top 10 list — and one even takes home the big prize. I guess sunshine, in addition to rain, can also be conducive to procrastinating!
3. Washington, D.C. Just because your neighbor works for the IRS doesn't mean tax procrastination is beneath you. DC came in at No. 12 last year but rocketed up the list.
2. New York. It's the city that never sleeps but apparently that doesn't mean they're up late doing their taxes — well, just in the last two weeks, I guess!
1. San Francisco. Maybe they got stuck on the windiest street in the world, Lombard Street, or maybe they got lost in the Redwood forest but a whopping 40 percent of San Franciscans file their taxes in the last two weeks. They move up from No. 6 last year.
Honorable mentions go to the following cities which just missed the top 10 list, clocking in at numbers 11 to 20 (in that order): Raleigh, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Chicago, Houston, Nashville, Phoenix, Atlanta, Richmond and Albuquerque.
Congratulations, everyone! Oh, and just to encourage your habit a little more — taxes aren't due until April 17 this year (bonus two days), due to the fact that April 15 falls on a Sunday and Monday the 16 is the Emancipation Day holiday in Washington, D.C., marking the day President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Act, ending slavery.
