Halftime Report

The Point of No Return

After hearing from the Fast Money traders, you might say the market has reached the point of no return.

Yields on the 10-year again made new lows and the pros are all but convinced investors both big and small should take a look at dividend yielding equities as an alternative.

Where are the Fast Money traders finding relatively higher yields amid relatively lower risk?

Joe Terranova

In this kind of environment, “there’s no better place than utilities,” says Terranova. But rather than pick and choose, Terranova suggests playing the thesis with the XLU. “It has a dividend yield close to 4% - and the ETF's diversification protects against single stock risk.”

Guy Adami

Fast Money’s Negotiator thinks the way to trade is to “crawl through the tape and look for what’s working.” The stock that’s caught Adami’s attention is Wal-Mart. “It’s up in a down tape,” he says. “That’s telling. Also, it’s trading near 12-year highs and it pays a nice dividend,” he says.

Brian Kelly

“I like AT&T,” says BK. He sees the stock as somewhat recession resistant. “Even in a downturn people continue to use their phones and smartphones,” he says. “And it has a 5% div yield.”

Stephen Weiss

“I’d look at mortgage REITs such as Colony and Apollo ,” says Weiss. He’s talked with leading figures in the industry while doing research for his book The Big Win and Weiss concludes, “real estate is improving. And you can get 7% yield in this space.”
