Batanga Media Announces Its Next-Generation Web and Mobile Music Service "Batanga Radio" Available in the US, Spain and Latin America

MIAMI, Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rafael Urbina, Chairman and CEO of Batanga Media, today announced the next generation of Batanga Radio with all new enhancements and energy. The comprehensive re-launch simultaneously includes the Batanga.com website and mobile applications available on iOS and Android platforms.  Upgrades feature a redesigned format and an enhanced digital radio player which will provide users with an overall superior radio listening experience. The redesigned Batanga Radio provides users with access to their music through multiple points of entry, be it web, mobile or tablet, across the globe. Today the majority of users access Batanga Radio through the mobile application, which currently ranks among the top 10 music apps in countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Chile.

Enhanced playlists and greater personalizing tools are among the most exciting upgrades. The new Batanga Radio allows users to build digital radio stations not only by adding the songs and artists they love, but for the first time ever users can exclude the music that they don't want to hear. Playlist technology has been enhanced to react to user interactions and even a user's geographic location.

"The internet radio arena has become increasingly competitive. Ultimately users will benefit as we and others strive to develop superior radio products," said Rafael Urbina, Chairman and CEO, Batanga Media. "We are inspired by our users' passion for music, their desire for music discovery and the need to personalize their listening experience. Today we are thrilled to deliver the next generation of Batanga Radio to users in the U.S. and all across Latin America."

Providing users with expanded music discovery was the motivation behind developing the new Batanga Radio with the technology that offers users up to five similar songs for every song they listen to on the digital player. The new player identifies new songs that are similar in a variety of categorization elements allowing users to discover new music with each song that plays.

Other highlights of the next generation Batanga Radio include the addition of song lyrics and over 10,000 new editorial and artist stations.

According to The Media Audit, internet radio is most popular amongst Hispanics. Generally early-adapters of technology, twenty-five percent (25%) of Hispanics listened to web radio in the past 7 days compared to twenty percent (20%) of overall adults 18+. Additionally, Nielsen recently reported that Hispanics also outpace other ethnic groups in mobile downloads of music and are 25% more likely to consume mobile multimedia.
