LM's $1 Billion Maddison Estate Launched Hollywood Style With an All-Star Line-Up

SURFERS PARADISE, Australia, Oct. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The A$1 billion Maddison Estate is under the spotlight as the new star of master-planned residential communities in Queensland, Australia.

The world-class estate on the Gold Coast was given the mark of approval today by three of Australia's favourite celebrities, involved in bringing the LM Investment Management Ltd project into fruition.

Jamie Durie and Olympians Natalie Cook and Samantha Riley today gave Maddison Estate the "Hollywood" treatment – making their marks in concrete as further plans for the estate were revealed.

The 118-hectare development will feature landscaped gardens by Jamie and his Durie Design team who showcased the first of their inspiring and eye-catching designs at the Maddison Estate sales office:

"My team at Durie Design and I are very excited to be working on the landscape design for Maddison Estate. We aim to create a sophisticated design with the latest environmental technology, infused with our outdoor room philosophy, and with a palette of warm colours and use of Bluestone throughout. The landscape design will have a strong connection to Australian Natives and we'll be creating a luxurious array of biodiversity. This amazing development is full of inspiring architecture and design in public areas for play, sport, recreation and rest."

Sydney 2000 Gold medallist and five-time Olympian Natalie Cook announced that following her retirement from professional sport earlier this year, her next project will be to open a Sandstorm beach volleyball centre at Maddison Estate.

Multiple Olympic medallist Sam Riley is still queen of the pool, teaching thousands of Queensland children how to swim. Now, she plans to open a Sam Riley Swim School at Maddison.

Both athletes already operate successful coaching facilities in Brisbane. Now future Australian champions will have the opportunity to be trained by the best.

"I'm very excited to be opening a Sam Riley Swim School on the Gold Coast as I've been living here for the past seven years. My passion is to teach children to learn to swim, as a life skill, and our schools are designed to create fun and fitness for people," Samantha said.

Natalie said Maddison would continue her long association with LM, with CEO Peter Drake financing her journey to the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

"I love working with Peter Drake on and off the court as he is innovative, dynamic and an amazing visionary. Sandstorm is looking for the next Natalie Cook by providing quality facilities and expert coaching programs and with Maddison Estate having such a special feel about it, we might strike gold," said Natalie.

Maddison Estate will be home to 2,500 dwellings and 800 lots: a mix of houses, townhouses and apartments. The estate will have a local retail complex and 37 hectares of parkland including the Central Park facilities (stage one) where Sandstorm and the Sam Riley Swim School will be located.

Peter Drake, LM Investment Management CEO, said Maddison Estate was a groundbreaking residential community – the first of its kind in Australia and possibly the rest of the world:

"We have strong State Government support which will be crucial to various elements of the project, such as the Kelly Slater Surf Park, and negotiations on this are progressing well. Buyers domestically and internationally are interested in the project.

"Our internationally recognised landscape designer and our sporting facilities operated by champion athletes and business partners make Maddison Estate unique. Without question, this will set a new benchmark for integrated residential living, anywhere in the world," says Drake.
