Mining stocks nudge Britain's FTSE higher

Britain's benchmark share index edged up on Tuesday, as miningstocks rose after a fresh injection of central bank liquidity byChina - the world's top metals consumer - bolstered prospects ofstimulus measures which would help boost the global economy.

At 0711 GMT, the FTSE 100 index was up 8.57 points,or 0.2 percent at 5,850.31.

Mining company Rio Tinto rose 1.5 percentafter it forecast more production growth for its copper arm,while traders said a Morgan Stanley upgrade in rating forfinancial group Schroders drove a 2.1 percent rise inthe stock which was the top blue chip gainer.
