Springpad Adds New Ways to Organize Interests Quickly, Easily and Beautifully

Popular app now lets people organize within their virtual notebooks with simple drag-and-drop placement

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Springpad, the smart notebook app that makes it easy for more than 3.5 million users to save and share what’s important to them, has introduced new features for its web and Android apps. These features will also be available for iOS users, allowing everyone to organize their items more easily, in more ways. Re-orderable items and a drag-and-drop Board view provide new control over the content and visual appeal of notebooks. Enhancements from a streamlined notebook creation process to rich notifications for Android help people get more done, more quickly.

“Whether prioritizing tasks with your family or team, or compiling visual inspirations for your home design project, organization is key. We're thrilled to be introducing new flexible ways for Springpad users to better organize ideas and information in an easy-to-use, visually appealing environment. Our community continues to amaze us with the many ways they use their smart notebooks, and we're excited to see new creative ideas that result from the features we've introduced,” said Jeff Chow, Co-Founder and CEO of Springpad.

A Board view for effortless visual organization.

The Board lets people drag and drop content onto a scrapbook-like page to create galleries of related items for personal use or for collaboration with friends. For example, a work team planning a trip could create a Board including maps, links to hotels and local service providers, events and schedules. A room remodel board could include images, links to catalogue items, contacts for contractors and task lists. Boards are also ideal for everything from holiday celebration planning to mood boards, recipes and daily errands. The Board is initially available on the Springpad web and Apple iPad apps with support for Android tablets to follow.

Manually reordered items.

Users now have the freedom to rearrange the items saved in a notebook to display their content however it makes the most sense to them and the people they share it with. Building on the recently introduced ability to add descriptions to notebooks, publishers, bloggers and other users can now order their notebooks the way they like. Teams using collaborative notebooks to save ideas, to-do lists and inspirations can move priorities to the top of the list and completed tasks or low-priority details to the bottom, keeping the whole team organized and efficient.

Rich Android notifications.

Springpad has taken advantage of the rich notifications in Android's Jelly Bean OS to give users the ability to take direct action from Springpad notifications without launching the app—for example, viewing or re-following a new follower or accessing bookmark links. Teams using collaborative notebooks can receive push notifications as team members save ideas, to-do lists, deadlines and travel planning items—“Check out the new hotel options I just found”—then can click on the bookmark, task or event from the notification and be taken directly to it.

“From to-do lists to collaborative projects to published content, organization is a big part of the way people use Springpad. We’re excited to give people new ways to organize and present their Springpad items exactly the way they want, in an easy-to-use environment that make the experience visually appealing as well as fun and easy,” said Jeff Chow, Co-Founder and CEO of Springpad.

Additional updates further enhance the speed, convenience and richness of the Springpad experience. Simplified notebook creation methods help even new users create notebooks and add items easily and intuitively. The updates follow the recent introduction of Facebook integration and a completely redesigned platform to allow users to discover ideas and information from trusted sources, collaborate, and share notebooks.
