Syrian minister accuses Turkey of piracy - TV

BEIRUT, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Syria's transport ministeraccused Turkey on Thursday of "air piracy" after Turkish fighterplanes forced down a Syrian passenger jet flying from Russia toDamascus, Lebanon's al-Manar Television reported.

The channel quoted minister Mahoumd Said as saying the moveamounted to "air piracy which contradicts civil aviationtreaties." Turkish officials said they suspected the plane wascarrying military equipment, and seized some of the cargo.
