Most major airlines are waiving change fees and cancellation penalties for travelers ahead of winter storm Nemo, which is threatening the Northeast. (Read more: Northeast US Braces for Another Snowmageddon)
Airlines on Wednesday began publishing waivers on their websites and let travelers know via social media, including Facebook and Twitter.
The waivers generally allow travelers to change their travel dates without penalty, or receive refunds if their flights are canceled or severely delayed by the storm. Here's a current summary of airline waivers. (Read more: Flight Delayed or Canceled? How to Get Reaccommodated Fast)
American Airlines: Passengers traveling to, from or through impacted airports may make one ticket change and the ticket reissue charge will be waived. A fare difference may apply. For the full list of airports covered under American's waiver, click here.
Delta Air Lines: If your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, you are entitled to a refund. Even if your flight is not canceled, you may make a one-time change to your ticket without fee if you are scheduled to travel to, from, or through impacted destinations on February 8 or 9. JetBlue: Passengers may rebook their flights originally scheduled on February 8 or 9 for travel through February 12. Passengers with canceled flights may also opt for a refund to the original form of payment. For the full list of airports covered under JetBlue's waiver, click here.
Southwest: Passengers will be able to make a change to their flights in accordance with Southwest's accommodation procedures, which typically allows for changes without a fee. For the full list of airports covered under Southwest's waiver, click here.
United Airlines: Fees for same-day flight changes are waived within 24-hours of original departure. For all other changes, the change fee will be waived, but a difference in fare may apply. For the full list of airports covered under United's waiver, click here.
US Airways: Change fees will be waived if you are scheduled to travel on February 8 or 9. Your new travel date may be changed to fly on February 7, 10, 11 or 12. For the full list of airports covered under US Airways' waiver, click here.
Virgin America: Passengers with confirmed flights departing to, or originating from Boston on February 8 or 9 may change their travel date without paying change fees or the difference in fares.
