Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg is planning to offer advertisers an opportunity to buy TV-style promotional time on your newsfeed, for as much a $2.5 million a day, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday.

The social media giant has joined its tech competition, like Google and AOL, for ad dollars that have traditionally been funneled into TV network advertisements. Facebook's news service would allow advertisers to make a 15-second product pitch to users based on demographics like age and gender.

Boasting more than a billion members, up to 100 million of whom use the social media site during prime-time TV hours, Facebook hopes cash in on users' attention during this coveted time block for advertisers and compete with TV network ad sales.
