Knapp to take new fixed income post at BlackRock

CNBC

Barry Knapp is joining BlackRock to lead and build a new fixed income strategy team this summer, leaving Barclays where he has been head of U.S. equity portfolio strategy for the past five years.

Knapp will head the Thematic Strategies team within the firm's Americas Fixed income team and will report to Rick Rieder, CIO of Fundamental Fixed Income and co-head of Americas Fixed Income.

The team will be responsible for finding opportunities for portfolio teams across BlackRock's fixed income group and will focus on macro themes and market dislocations to generate improved returns.

BlackRock was to announce the appointment to its employees Tuesday morning.

Knapp had been at Lehman for 19 years in a variety of roles, prior to joining Barclays. Barclays said it wished Knapp well in his new position.
