American businesses chase big markets in India

As India Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi settles into his term, more U.S. businesses are increasing their push into the billion-plus nation. American entrepreneurs are hoping a pro-business Modi will help them snag a piece of the country's vast market, CNNMoney.com reports.

Davie, Florida-based Baby K'Tan, for example, is hoping its baby carriers slung over the body will catch on. Fairfield, Connecticut-based AtmosAir Solutions is offering a fix to India's air quality problem.

Beyond the appeal for businesses, India's new leader has tapped into the nation's middle class and its aspirational values. He's using social media to reach India's young, offering the idea that growth is the antidote to poverty, as NPR recently reported.
