More businesses are taking advantage of mobile payment technologies, and ditching paper checks.
Manhattan-based Projective Space offers office space for start-ups. Tracking personal checks from tenants was cumbersome, so Projective began automatically deducting tenants' payments through mobile processor Stripe, a Square competitor, Crain's reports.
Personal checks are fading as consumers and tech-savvy entrepreneurs opt for digital payment systems, often using smartphones. Walk into a modern store, and chances are boxy cash registers also have disappeared from counters. You'll instead find sales associates cruising retail floors with smartphones and tablet-like devices.
