Power has been fully restored at the Sydney Airport after an outage early Friday delayed flights for thousands of travelers at the country's largest airport.
"Security screening has recommenced and airlines are operating check-in counters and facilities. We are working to move passengers through the terminal as quickly as possible," the airport said in a statement on its website.
The airport said that an issue with a substation had been identified, which caused a power interruption
The airport was thrown into chaos earllier after an outage at the T2 domestic terminal led some airlines such as Virgin and Qantas Airway's low-cost carrier Jetstar to cancel flights.

According to local media reports, Virgin took the extraordinary step of telling passengers to not bother showing up for flights from T2.
Qantas, Australia's flag carrier, operates out of the T3 terminal, so it was largely unaffected.
The power outage comes at a busy travel time with school holidays just underway.
Chris Weston, chief market strategist at trading firm IG based in Melbourne, said he has a flight to Sydney later on Friday and was watching the travel updates closely.
"I'm going to Sydney and at this stage my flight is only 45 minutes late," he told CNBC. "I am hoping, perhaps foolishly, that all will be fine when I get there! I will look for the sanity of the lounge and hope that my flight is not as affected as others."
