Govt probing early release of PPI data: Report

The U.S. Department of Labor is investigating a technical glitch that allowed the partial early release of Producer Price Index data on Tuesday, Bloomberg reported.

According to Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters headlines with the PPI data were transmitted at 8:28 a.m. ET—two minutes ahead of the scheduled release—even though Labor Dept. officials had not yet flipped a "master switch" that would allow news agencies to transmit the data.

Thomson Reuters told Bloomberg that it followed all of the so-called lockup procedures correctly.
