Pinterest introduces 'buy' button

Pinterest is getting in on the e-commerce action. The digital scrapbooking company is working on adding a "buy" button, according to Re/code.

On a monthly basis, 70 million users share images and ideas from kiddie birthday parties to fashion and home decor, but there's no way to buy what you see. Re/code reports that the "buy" button will allow users to order and pay directly from the site.

To handle payments, Re/code reports that Pinterest may be close to a deal with payment processing company Stripe. A spokeswoman for Stripe declined to comment, according to the report.

Pinterest was formed in March 2010. The potential move to adopt a "buy" button would put the social network up against the likes of Amazon, Etsy and eBay.
