If you think today's car headlights are too bright, wait till you stare at the glare of the new Audi R8. Along with its gleaming LEDs on the hood, Audi's new sports car has lasers.
Audi just released the images and specs for the new R8, which will start selling this summer. It's not all that different from the old R8 at least in terms of looks. It's got the same understated baby-Bugatti styling and glass engine cover.
But the new R8 is lighter, faster and more powerful. It does zero to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and can hit a top speed of 205 mph.
With that kind of speed, driving at night can be a challenge. So Audi has boosted its headlights, offering LED lights and a "laser spot" for the high beams.

How powerful will these lasers be? Clearly, you won't be able to vaporize the traffic ahead or pull a Darth Vader on that slow truck in the passing lane. But chances are, they will outshine (and probably annoy) everything else on the road.
The price for all that light? The new Audi R8 will start at 165,000 euros, or about $185,000.
