Seeing The Cap-Ex Slowdown A Bit Differently

U.S. stocks starting off the week with a nice rally Monday. The Dow seeing triple digit gains midway through the session.

As for how you play it, UBS Chief Investment Strategist Mike Ryan has his eye on capital goods orders. "Orders for capital goods have declined for six straight months and some view this as evidence of a broader slowing of growth." Ryan says he sees things a bit differently. "Much of the cap-ex slowdown has been the result of the "twin headwinds" of a stronger dollar and lower energy prices" says Ryan.

He believes the overall strength of the U.S. expansion. Ryan says, "Look for selective increases in cap-ex, especially in the non-energy related space, which should bolster both enterprise software and equipment spending within the technology sector."
