The networks said that revenue was driven mainly by pay-per-view purchases in the United States, where the fight was bought 4.4 million times.

Total worldwide revenue is believed to have topped $500 million, including proceeds from the live gate at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas where the fight was held, international distribution and sponsorship, among sources, the networks said.

The fight's U.S. pay-per-view revenue is nearly three times as high as that generated by Mayweather's bout against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in 2013, which totaled a then-record $150 million.
