New York airplane just misses a drone: Report

An airplane headed for La Guardia Airport on Friday came into close contact with a drone near Prospect Park in Brooklyn, reports NBC 4 New York. (Tweet this)

The pilot of Shuttle American flight 2708 had to pull the aircraft up about 200 feet to avoid hitting the drone, officials said. The flight was coming in from Washington, D.C. and landed safely at its destination.

Earlier, five pilots had reported that someone was pointing green lasers at their planes in the New York area.

The Federal Aviation Administration said on Thursday night that pilots had reported their passenger planes being the targets of green lasers. Four of the jets were flying at 8,000 feet over Long Island when the incident happened, the FAA said.

There were no reported injuries from any of the incidents.
