Though the possibility of an Apple TV is slim to none as far as we know for now, an Apple TV remote with a touch screen could still be on the horizon, according to 9to5mac.com.

A patent application by the iPhone maker could lead to a TV remote with Touch ID, the site reports. However, the patent uses the vague term of "sensor configured to detect a biometric characteristic of a user."

Implications for the remote, according to the report, include saving favorite channels on a TV or even for home automation applications such as changing the thermostat temperature.

A patent application, however, does not mean that Apple will actually mass produce the product.
