Trader beating S&P: Buy Visa, sell Morgan Stanley

Stephanie Link, whose "Halftime Report" model portfolio is up 7 percent this year, is selling out of Morgan Stanley in favor of Visa.

As the trader aims to take the top spot in CNBC Pro's competition, Link believes shares of Morgan Stanley lack a near-term catalyst due to the unclear timeline of a potential rate hike.

"Questions about the Fed on interest rates and the timing will be a headwind," said Link, explaining that other factors like a seasonal slowdown could also weigh on the shares, leading to downward earnings revisions from analysts.

Since reaching a 52-week high in July, Morgan Stanley's stock is down nearly 11 percent.
