Citymeals rings NYSE opening bell

Citymeals-on-Wheels rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange to mark the start of trading Friday.

The nonprofit, which delivers meals to the homebound elderly, is seeking donations for meals to be served during the winter holiday season.

The organization's executive director, Beth Shapiro, and guests were in attendance.

Many of the people who receive meals from the program are isolated and lonely, according to the Citymeals website. About 57 percent live alone and 40 percent rarely or never leave their homes, according to the organization.
