John Rogers Jr., chairman of Ariel Investments, bought shares of a provider of aerial transportation services on Wednesday, in a value play for CNBC Pro's Platinum Portfolio.

The money manager, who oversees about $10 billion in assets, believes shares of Bristow Group (BRS), which provides helicopter services to the offshore oil energy industry, are poised to rise.
