FedEx is working overtime to meet Christmas delivery deadlines.
The company said it plans to ship packages on Christmas Day in some markets. It will also keep FedEx Express locations open across the country from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. so customers can pick up parcels.
FedEx did not originally plan to run operations on Friday.
The shipping giant also noted it saw "slight delays" Thursday morning due to severe weather in parts of the South. Heavy rains, high winds and tornadoes hit multiple states on Wednesday.
"We are continuing to make adjustments and do everything we can to minimize impact on our customers," FedEx said in a statement.
In October, FedEx said it expected to ship 317 million packages between Black Friday and Christmas. That would mark a 12.4 percent increase from the previous year.
