New Apple Watch models to be announced in March: Report

Apple is reportedly planning to release an Apple Watch refresh in mid-March.

After breaking the news that the tech giant is organizing a March media event to announce its second-generation Apple Watch, 9to5Mac is now adding that it expects a host of new models with expanded band color and material options.

While there will likely be no significant changes to the core functions of the Apple Watch, 9to5Mac suggests that Apple may also release WatchOS 2.2 in the near future. The website adds that there could be additional software enhancements unveiled at the March event.

Apple's stock has been under pressure recently, falling nearly 19 percent in the last six months, according to FactSet.

Ahead of Apple's fourth quarter earnings report in October, top analyst Toni Sacconaghi of Sanford C. Bernstein suggested that Apple's best days may be behind it.

Apple has yet to disclose specific Apple Watch shipment numbers, but CEO Tim Cook said that Watch sales were up in the fourth quarter of 2015, above company expectations.
