Office supply chain Staples rang the opening bell at the NASDAQ as postal workers gathered to protest the company's use of what they called low-wage, high-turnover employees at postal counters in its stores.

Staples was represented at the NASDAQ by Shira Goodman, who heads up the company's business services division and oversees the company's retail operations in North America, according to a statment. The event was meant to highlight new business strategies being employed to help streamline operations and boost profitability, according to the company.
