Shares of Virgin America soared more than 12 percent on Monday after rumors that it has attracted offers from JetBlue Airways and Alaska Air.

Sources told Bloomberg that the airline is still discussing the offers with its bidders and that the deal would be announced next week at the earliest. Shares of JetBlue and Alaska Air initially rose 2.7 and 1 percent, respectively, on the news.

It still remains to be seen whether Virgin America will pursue a takeover offer or remain independent, according to Bloomberg.

The sale was first reported last week when Bloomberg said that the airline was consulting with a financial advisor on a possible sale, sending its stock up 10 percent.
